We care about the environment and work following a sustainable timber exploitation model. The waste crisis and climate change are largely caused by an economy heavily reliant on fossil fuels and non-renewable resources.

If we want to halt a system that harms us, the rest of living beings, and the environment we inhabit, we need a model change. It is essential to change the way we exploit the natural resources available to us in order to lead a fulfilling life with minimal ecological footprint.

The use of wood in packaging, furniture, construction, or bioenergy makes it a perfect substitute for other more polluting materials such as plastic, concrete, steel, aluminum, and PVC, which produce high carbon emissions in their manufacturing process.

Responsible forest management

The forested area covers approximately 55% of the territory in Euskadi, over 400,000 hectares. This is one of the highest ratios in the European Union. Given the extent of the exploitation, the Basque forestry sector is concerned with the care of the forests. It manages the plantations responsibly, replanting and efficiently utilizing both the space and every centimeter of extracted material. This is what we mean when we talk about following a sustainable timber exploitation model.

Use of wood km 0.The carbon footprint of the first transportation of wood from the forests to the place where it is processed is reduced.

Job creation. The wood is processed in local industries. In this way, the economy of Euskadi is activated, generating 13,000 direct jobs and 7,000 induced jobs.

Another reason to care for forests, regenerate them, replant them, and exploit them responsibly is to invest in a prosperous future. We are committed to adopting ecological measures such as creating a new range of products with a lower environmental impact. Using wood as a raw material enables us to achieve this.
